MARVYL MAXINE 'SUE' TANNER

NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Marvyl "Sue" Maxine Tanner, 83, Nora Springs died Monday (Dec. 17, 2001) at the Nora Springs Care Center.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Friday at the United Methodist Church in Nora Springs with the Rev. Richard Pippert and the Rev. Terra Amundson officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Rockwell Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church.

The family of Marvyl Maxine "Sue" Tanner has requested that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of North Iowa or to the Marvyl Tanner Memorial Fund, which has been established in her memory.

Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye in Nora Springs is in charge of the arrangements.

Marvyl "Sue" Maxine Tanner was born on January 1, 1918, in Sheffield, the daughter of Arnold and Mary (Schulz) Baker. She attended and received her education in the Swaledale school system, graduating from Swaledale High School in 1935.

She was united in marriage to Gordon Tanner in the late 1930's in Swaledale. After their marriage she was a bookkeeper and together with her husband operated creameries in Swaledale, Northwood, Grafton, and Nora Springs, for many years.

Marvyl was also a bookkeeper at the Marigold Dairy in Mason City for 15 years and also worked as a bookkeeper for Lundbergs Clothing Store in Mason City until her retirement.

Camping, bowling and "eating out" were her favorite things to do.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the church circle in Nora Springs.

Left to cherish her memory are her two brothers, Carold Baker and his special friend, Corine, of Waterloo, and Durwood Baker and his wife, LaVonne, of Mason City; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.

Her parents, husband, Gordon Tanner and a daughter, Janet Tanner in 1947, preceded her in death.
