Ruth R. Cook was born one of four children to Heddie and Blanche (Towner) Cook in rural Floyd County on May 31, 1936. She received her early education at St. Charles No. 1 rural school and graduated in 1955 from Charles City High School. As a young lady she was employed as a clerk-typist at the Oliver Corp. and then with Collins Company in Cedar Rapids.

She was united in marriage with Louis Koenigsfeld, on December 29, 1956, at Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City where they remained life-long members. To this union were born eight children.

Ruth was a member of St. Jude's Circle and a member of the Heritage Club. Her love of travel drew her to visiting each of her children and spending time with her grandchildren. She made sure that everyone else's needs were met before her own. She was loyal and committed to her faith. She spent the past 22 years working with others as a certified nurse's aide at the Ninth St. Chautauqua Home.

In addition to raising her family, she enjoyed taking care of plants and flowers. She also loved to collect birdhouses and watch the birds and squirrels in her back yard. She especially loved to go on shopping trips with her daughters. She was a kind and gentle woman, and her love and concern were for her husband of 44 years and her eight children and twelve grandchildren.

Those thankful in sharing Ruth's life include her husband, Louis, Charles City; three sons, five daughters and twelve grandchildren: Ronald and his wife, Lori Koenigsfeld, Mesa, Ariz., and their children, Courtney and Kyle; Randall and his wife, Terri Koenigsfeld, New Port Richey, Fla., and their children, Jonathan, Benjamin and Sarah; Denise and her husband, Kenneth Duncan, Land O'Lakes, Fla., and their children, Abbey and Brooke; Karla and her husband, Steve Bass, Altoona, Iowa, and their two children, Seth and Ethan; Lisa and her husband, Toga Hertzog, Port Angeles, Wash., and their son, Karsten; LuAnn and husband, Charles Scott, Coconut Creek, Fla.; Kurt and his wife, Holly Koenigsfeld, Papillion, Neb., and daughter, Anna; Debra and husband, Corey Rhoads, Grimes, Iowa, and son, Caleb; and two brothers and a sister and their families, Roger and Donna Cook of Alamo, Texas, Robert and Karen Cook of Charles City, and Gladys and Wayne Feldman of Greene.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Heddie and Blanche Cook.
