FRANCES SEBASTIAN

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Frances Sebastian, 84, of 606 Milwaukee Apt. 4, Charles City, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 S. Main St., Charles City, with Pastor Dennis Nieszwaag officiating. Interment will be held in Sunnyside Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Frances was born August 9, 1917, the daughter of Frank and Alta (Briggs) Bogges in Chickasaw County.

She was united in marriage to Wayne Linn on January 19, 1935, in Galena, Illinois. They had two wonderful children, Doris Toebe and William Linn. 35 years later, Wayne Linn passed away. Frances would later marry Wayne Canny who passed away six months later due to illness.

On January 11, 1975, she was united in marriage to Harlan Sebastian at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. The couple made their home in the Postville area up until the time of his illness. Frances and Harlan then moved back to Charles City where she was employed as a cook by Charles City School District.

Frances loved spending quality time with her family. Her childhood was filled with the sounds of siblings for she had six sisters and four brothers. It became a tradition that the whole family would gather at grandma's for Sunday dinner. After playing games they would go home with full bellies and wonderful memories that will be cherished forever.

Her face would light up when Harlan and she would go South for the winters. She knew that she would get Harlan to go dancing. Her heart was always looking out for others, making afghans for those she cared for so deeply.

Christmas for Frances was everyday by being graced with the smiles of her loved ones and the yarn that they would bring. If she wasn't playing games or making afghans she could be found in the kitchen baking her famous pies and cookies.

Frances will be greatly missed by her two children, Doris Toebe and her husband, Dean, of Charles City, and William L. Linn and his wife, Darlene, of Charles City; two stepchildren with the late Wayne Canny, Joyce and Sandy; one sister, Edna Ashley, of Charles City; several nieces and nephews; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, five sisters and four brothers.

Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, (641) 228-4211.
