CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Doris H. DeMerritt, 78, of 513 15th Ave., died Saturday (July 25, 1997) at her residence of cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dennis D. Niezwaag officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Friends may call from 12 to 9 p.m. today at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Doris H. DeMerritt was born October 5, 1918, in rural Forest City.

Living family members include two sons, Minerd DeMerritt of Charles City, and Thomas DeMerritt and his wife, Chris, of Reading, Pa.; two daughters and their husbands, Shirley and David Ripley of Riceville, and LaVonne and Jim "Whitey" Reysack of Charles City; a brother, Albert Langerud of Paris, Mo.; four sisters, Edyth Peterson and Amy Brown, both of Clear Lake, Junice Brown of Leland, and Marlys Haugen of Lake Mills; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sisters.
