CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Herbert W. Meyer, 83, formerly of 604 Seventh Ave. and Ninth St. Chautauqua Guest Home, died Tuesday (July 31, 2001) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Sunnyside Chapel Funeral Home, Highway 218 South, with Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Sunnyside Chapel and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Friday.

Memorials may be given to the family.

Herbert W. Meyer, 83, of Charles City, died Tuesday, July 31, at Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City, of natural causes.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Meyer delivered ice for an ice company, was a mechanic at Bathke Horvath Mobil Oil station, and was also employed by Oliver White Farm Equipment and Thompson Mobile Service.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lou Meyer of Charles City; and three grandchildren; he was preceded in death by his wife, Amy, on Oct. 20, 1984; a son, Donald; a daughter, Roseanne; a granddaughter; and two sisters, Hazel Immel and Esther Jones.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sunnyside Chapel Funeral Home, with burial in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, both in Charles City; friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until service Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
