MILDRED RUTH JACOBSON
NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Mildred Ruth Jacobson, 94, formerly of Rudd, died Sunday (July 29, 2001) at Nora Springs Care Center.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Nora Springs, with Pastor Ruth Hanson officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church Tuesday. Sheckler Colonial Chapel, Nora Springs, is in charge of the arrangements.
The family suggest memorials be directed to St. Luke's Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Iowa in the name of Mildred Ruth Jacobson.
Mildred was born August 8, 1906, in Volga, Iowa, the daughter of Delos J. and Ethel (Smith) Crain. She attended Upper Iowa College in Fayette.
She married Clarence R. Jacobson on June 10, 1933, in Fayette. In 1938 they started a retail grocery business in Laurel and in 1946 opened another grocery business in Galt. In 1964 they moved to Rudd to live. Mildred assisted her husband with income tax work that he did for farmers and businessmen in Laurel, Galt and Rudd area.
Mildred was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards, volunteered at the Rudd Library and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Nora Springs. Due to failing health she entered the Nora Springs Care Center June of 99.
She is survived by two sisters, Katheryn Goeschel, Garnavillo, Iowa, and Charlotte Schnathorst, Laurel, and many nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1983; a brother, William Crain; and two sisters, Cecel Sherman and Erma Smith.
