NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Mona L. Miller Cooper, 81, of Nora Springs, died Saturday, April 2, 2011, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, at First United Methodist Church, 202 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, with the Rev. Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. the same day in Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. today, Monday, April 4, at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs. Memorials may be given to the Mona L. Miller Cooper memorial fund.

Mona was born May 11, 1929, at Davenport, a daughter of Lynn and Myrtle (Martens) DeReu. She graduated from Iowa City High School, Iowa City, in 1947.

Mona married Charles W. Miller on December 17, 1950, at the United Methodist Church in Iowa City. They were the parents of Bradley, Barbara, and Bryan. Charles died in May 1963.

Mona later married Carl E. Cooper on June 3, 1966, at Indianola Methodist Church, Indianola. They farmed at Clear Lake and Nora Springs. They were the parents of Carla and David. Carl died in March 1988.

Mona was a member of First United Methodist Church, Nora Springs. She was a foster grandparent, a past member of Order of the Eastern Star, Daughter of the Nile, Nora Springs Community Club and the Crescent Club. She was an active volunteer at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

She enjoyed her family, friends and hand work.
Survivors include Bradley (Jennifer) Miller of Indianola, Barbara (Tim) Quam of Nora Springs, Bryan Miller and his good friend, Mary Etta Sturges of Nora Springs, Carla (Ken) Wilde of Rochester, Minn., and David (Natasha) Cooper of Indianola; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a sister, Shirley McNutt; and a brother-in-law, Jim McNutt.
