MABEL CLAIRE TURNER

ROCKFORD, IOWA - Mabel Claire Turner, 85, of the Nora Springs Care Center, formerly of 22 First St. N, Rockford, died Saturday (March 31, 2001) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday April 3, 2001 at the United Methodist Church in Rockford with the Rev. Margie Bradshaw officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Visitation with be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Fullerton-Schumburg Funeral Home, 302 W Main Ave. Rockford.

On December 20, 1915, Mabel was born to Bert Jr. and Luticia Shaw Gruver in Clermont. She spent nine years of her childhood in Clermont before moving to Rockford to graduate in 1933.

Mabel Gruver was united in marriage to Everett Dale Turner on Decembr 27, 1941 in Rockford. She was employed through First State Bank as a teller until 1972 when she retired. Mabel devoted her time to her church and family. She attended the United Methodist Church and was active with the Women's Club in Rockford, Women's Circle and The American Legion Women's Auxiliary. She truly enjoyed working with her hands as she made crafts, needlework, knitting, counted cross stitch, and crocheting. Mabel treasured the family camping trips and babysitting her wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mabel's memories will be honored and cherished by her one son, Dale (Bud) and his wife, Cindi Turner, of Nora Springs, and their child, Bryan Turner of Mission, Kan., one daughter, Marjorie Kornegor, of Rockford, and her two children, Theresa and her husband, Joel Cannon, and their child, Stephanie Cannon, of Rockford, Aaron and his wife, Carrie Kornegor, and their child, Alec Kornegor, of St. Charles, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Everett; four brothers, John, Walter, Cecil, and Bert Jr. Gruver; two sisters, Eleanor Pringle and Vera Webb and one son-in-law, Donald Kornegor.
