Hold Funeral Friday
for Charles City Man

CHARLES CITY- Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church for Herman S. Hopkes, 75, Charles City, who died unexpectedly at his farm 13 miles southeast of Charles City Monday. He had been working with his tenant and complained of feeling ill. He had decided to return to Charles City when death occurred. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory- Gardens with Grossman's in change.

Mr. Hopkes came to the United States from Germany at the age of 35. He made his home near Parkersburg.

He was married to Bena Reintz, March 4, 1903. They farmed for many years in Butler County.

Because of poor health he limited his farming to an acreage for 10 years, before moving to their present home three years ago.

Survivors are his wife, and four children: Mrs. Dale Osterman, and Mrs. Roy Hurst, both of Charles City, Burno Hopkes, Minneapolis, Minnesota, George Hopkes Silets, Oregon; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. One brother, brother, Seivert Hopkes, of Germany also survives.
