LUCILLE FRANKLIN

NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Lucille Franklin, 90, of Beloit, Wisconsin, and formerly of Nora Springs, died on Sunday, September 5, 1999, at the Beloit Health and Rehabilitation Center, Beloit.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Nora Springs United Methodist Church, Nora Springs, with the Rev. Richard Pippert and the Rev. Deborah Stowers officiating. Interment will be in the Park Cemetery, Nora Springs.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

The family suggests memorials be given to the Nora Springs United Methodist Church.

Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye St., Nora Springs, is in charge of arrangements.

Lucille was born on November 14, 1908, in Clear Lake, the daughter of Orren and Dorcas (Pester) Porter. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1925.

She married George H. Franklin on Nov. 25, 1926, in Garner. They lived in the Garner and Ventura areas until 1943 when they moved to Nora Springs. In 1964 she graduated from Mason City Junior College as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at Mercy Hospital in Mason City until her retirement. Due to ill health, she moved to Beloit, Wis., to be closer to her son, George.

Lucille loved to read, sew, make quilts, work on handwork, do crossword puzzles, garden and do volunteer work in the community.

Lucille was a member of the Nora Springs United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Lucille is survived by four children, Rose Anne Fowler and her husband, Thomas, of Orlando, Fla., George H. Franklin Jr., of Beloit, Wis., Robert P. Franklin and his wife, Joyce, of Cedaredge, Colo., and Linda Limesand and her husband, Milford, of Tonganoxie, Kan.; two sisters, Esther Evans, of Anaheim, Calif., and Catherine Davis and her husband, Chuck, of Clear Lake; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Flossie Skellenger and Ella Bruns; her husband, George; one daughter, Esther Campbell; one grandson, Jimmy Campbell; and one granddaughter, Joyce Franklin.
