NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Mary A. Babbitt, 69, of Rudd, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Rudd United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Deborah Stowers and the Rev. Greg Lugn, of the Nora Springs Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.

NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Mary A. (Roy) Babbitt, 69, of Rudd, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at the Floyd County Hospital, Charles City.

Mary A. (Roy) Babbitt was born on August 4, 1930, in Charles City, the daughter of Arthur and Inez (Millard) Roy.

She married Milton Babbitt on September 21, 1979, in Nora Springs.

Mary was in rodeos and drove a truck prior to her marriage. She was a janitor at the school in Rudd and drove the school bus. She loved fishing, baking, crafts, horses and also enjoyed gardening. She also enjoyed being around kids and dressing up as Mrs. Santa and as "Flannigan" the clown.

She was a member of the Rudd United Methodist Church and also enjoyed attending the Nora Springs Christian Church.

Mary is survived by her son, Terry Reams and his wife, Jackie, Osage; grandchildren, Terry Reams and his wife, Chris, Osage, Melissa Mayer and her husband, Brad, St. Ansgar, Jason Reams and his wife, Jill, Osage, Joseph Reams, Osage and Tanya Coburn Kirshbaum and her husband, John, Clear Lake; five great-grandchildren, Megan and Casey Reams, Lindy and Jared Mayer, and Tyler Reams; two sisters, Susan Burns, Rudd, and Gloria Schmidt, Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton; her parents; one daughter, Mary "Marydoll" Coburn; one son, Jim; one sister, Sylvia Roy; and two infant grandchildren.
