DOROTHY STARR

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Dorothy, Mrs. Jim Starr, a former resident of 51 Cedar Terrace South, died Sunday (May 14, 2000) at the Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City. Gale Richards, pastor of the Colwell United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., and from 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.

Dorothy Johnson Starr was born Feb. 12, 1915, in Howard County, the daughter of Henry and Jennie Sheets Johnson. She received her education in Howard County country schools and at the Elma school.

On Oct. 1, 1932, she was united in marriage to Charles "Jim" Starr at Charles City. Jim died on March 8, 1991. The couple farmed in the Alta Vista area all their lives, moving to Charles City in 1990.

Living family members include three sons and their wives, James and Rose Starr of Charles City, Charles and Clare Starr of Washburn and Herbert and Betty Starr of Clear Lake; five daughters and their husbands, Lorraine and Elvin Enderson of Lake Mills, Delores and Bob Wright, Shirley and Larry Katcher and Lucile and Bill Dunn, all of Charles City, and Marjorie and LeRoy Roethler, of Elma; 28 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Viola Gorman of Cedar Rapids, Velma and her husband, Orville Zubrod, of Alta Vista, and Maxine and her husband, John Blietz, of Waterloo; and a brother-in-law, Buster and his wife, Betty Starr, of Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two grandsons and a great granddaughter.
