CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Jami A. Kantaris, 52, of Charles City, formerly of Mason City, died Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 7, at Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 1311 2nd St. S.W., Mason City, with the Rev. Joseph Mirowski, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd Street N.E., Mason City, where a trisagion prayer service will be held at 6 p.m.

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Jami Anne Kantaris, 52, formerly of Mason City, Iowa, died on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7 at Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 1311 Second St. S.W., Mason City, with the Rev. Joseph Mirowski, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, where a trisagion prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Jami Anne Kantaris Memorial Fund.

Jami Anne Kantaris was born on May 16, 1958, at Mason City to Gus and Caroline Mary (Jordan) Kantaris. Jami was the third child in a family of four.

Jami worked at her father's restaurant, The Athenian Supper Club, for many years. She later began her own restaurant, Xtabi Super Club in Mason City. Jami was a talented cook; Greek food was her specialty. Cooking and entertaining was what made Jami truly happy.

She valued her relationships with her family and friends, many will miss her daily phone calls. She loved sending cards and packages to her friends and family filled with the perfect gift, funny phrase or words of encouragement. Jami will always be remembered as the best Aunt, she spoiled all of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children. She liked to be called "Nuna."

Jami had a magnetic personality with her great smile and sense of humor. Spending time with Jami always went quickly as there were many laughs or adventures. A few of Jami's favorite things included: white tulips, a good pair of slippers, surfing the internet, reading, and her beloved BMW. She was also very proud of her Greek heritage.

In the last few years Jami grew spiritually with the help of many great friends at the Jordan River Church, Charles City. She found happiness in the service work she did and the people she touched. Jami's idea of Heaven would be floating on a raft at the beach with Bob Marley playing in the background.

Jami is survived by two sisters, Kym (Randy) Sutton, Taylorville, Illinois, Dena Hahn, Mason City; her stepmother, Sharon Kantaris; her nieces, Mary (Brian) DeZiel, Madison, Wisconsin, Caroline (Matt) Bennett, Mason City, Katherine Sutton, Lincoln, Illinois, Natalie Morel, Mason City; her nephew, Kristofer Hahn, Wellsville, Missouri; great-grand nieces and nephews, Austin, Ashton, Ryan, Alexander, Nikolas, Sophia and Emma; many dear friends including, Althea Roher, Colette Brandau, and Paula Gahn.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Caroline Mary Jordan; her father, Gus James Kantaris; and her brother, Anthony Gus Kantaris.
