RUDD, IOWA - Irene Christina Moore, 86, of Rudd, died Friday (Feb. 18, 2000) at the Nora Springs Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at the Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, with the Rev. Richard Pippert and the Rev. Deborah Stowers officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, rural Rudd.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday and one hour prior to service time on Monday at the Chapel.

The family of Irene Christina Moore has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Rudd United Methodist Church in her memory.

Irene Christina Moore was born on Nov. 14, 1913, south of Rudd, the daughter of William and Christina (LaCoste) Rolfes. She attended and received her education in the Niles Township School system.

She was united in marriage to Homer Moore on Oct. 25, 1932, in Nora Springs. He preceded her in death in January of 1966. After their marriage she helped her husband with answering phones and bookkeeping at their business, Moore Oil Company, in Rudd, and she also worked for the Hoovers Hatchery in Rudd for 10 years.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, making afghans, playing cards, bingo, scrabble games and fishing.

She was a member of the 500 card club and the Royal Neighbors, both in Rudd.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dolores Larson and her husband, Russell, of Rudd, Larry Moore, of Rudd, and Leland Moore and his wife, Sandra, of Rudd; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Inez Field, of Pequot Lakes, Minn., and Mabel Green, of Rudd; as well as other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents.
