MARBLE ROCK - Franklin D. Mullen, 57, of 697 North Barrington Road, Springdale, Ark., formerly of Marble Rock, died Saturday (Jan. 15, 2000) at the Northwest Medical Center in Arkansas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene. Burial will be in Westside Cemetery, Marble Rock.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Home in Springdale, Ark. Local visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Reid's Funeral Chapel in Greene and will continue from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday.

MARBLE ROCK, IOWA - Funeral services for Franklin D. Mullen, 57, of 697 N. Barrington Rd, Springdale, Ark., formerly of Marble Rock, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Reid's Funeral Chapel in Greene with burial in the Westside Cemetery in Marble Rock.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Memorial Funeral Home in Springdale, Ark.

Local visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Reid's Funeral Chapel in Greene and will continue from 9 a.m. until time of services on Thursday.

Franklin D. Mullen was born Dec. 8, 1942 in Swaledale, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, a son of Abraham Leonard and Bessie Margaret (Woodside) Mullen and died Saturday (Jan. 15, 2000) at the Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, Arkansas, of cancer.

He received his education in the rural schools in Ulster Township, Floyd County and as a young man started working for Dale Vanderlan Auto Salvage in Charles City. He served in the United States Army and following his discharge he lived in Des Moines delivering Highland Potato Chips.

He later lived in Arizona for a short time before moving to Arkansas. He was last employed as a certified service technician for Richard Mayes Auto in Fayetteville, Ark.

He was united in marriage to Betty Lou Weyher on Feb. 14, 1976.

Frank was a professional Bass Fisherman having won the Poor Boy Bass Tournament in 1975. He was a member of several Bass Clubs. He was a member of the Brush Creek Baptist Church in Tontitown, Ark.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou, of Springdale, Ark.; one son, Brian Weyher, of Fruitland, Wash.; one daughter, Barbara Thayer, of Rogers, Ark.; his mother, Bessie Mullen, of Greene; two sisters and their spouses, Mary Ann and Cecil Myers, of Greene and Betty Jean and James Larsen, of Wapello; one brother, Dan and his wife, Carolyn Mullen, of Greene.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Edward.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Franklin D. Mullen Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Reid's Funeral Chapel in Greene is in charge of local arrangements.
