JOHNNIE FRANK THOMPSON

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Memorial services for Johnnie (1916-1999) will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. The Rev. Greg Lugn, pastor of the First Christian Church in Charles City, will officiate.

The family will greet friends after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Police officer, bouncer, from Alabama, a "Southern," occasionally mentioning that he was among "Yankees," hand-to-hand combat trainer, physical trainer, drill sergeant, staff sergeant, World War II soldier, Korean vet, boxer (privileged to have had a three-round exhibition vs. Joe Louis to raise money for Japenese-American orphans), entertainer, drummer, M.C., played spoons, electrician, T.V. repairman, radar technician, airman, parts inspector, Oliver and White Farm Tractor Companies, a "right guy," not afraid to fight.

Stayed in third marriage to the end, a 45-year marriage with Neoma Waters of Colwell town; classic couple. Children from the second marriage: two sons, Sidney and Tommy, and a daughter, Carol June; one son from the third marriage: "Dugan" Conrad.

Thompson spent retirement at his house at 702 Kellogg in Charles City, gardening and enjoying sitting in his swing. After a brief illness, died Nov. 15th in Greene, Iowa, at Liebe Care Center.
