GENEVIEVE SCHRIEVER

MARBLE ROCK, IOWA - Funeral services for Genevieve Schriever, 82, of 614 College St., Marble Rock, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at the United Methodist Church in Marble Rock, with Pastor Rosemary Rohde-Frank officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Marble Rock.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Reid's Funeral Chapel in Marble Rock, where there will be a public scripture service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday at the church one hour before services.

Genevieve Schriever was born July 27, 1916, in Rockford, a daughter of George and Isabell (Stockholm) Kornegor, and died Thursday (June 3, 1999) at the Nora Springs Care Center.

She received her education in the Rockford public schools, graduating in 1935. She was united in marriage to Benjamin Schriever on Dec. 24, 1935. They farmed in the Rockford area for many years while she was employed at area nursing homes and care centers for more than 30 years. In 1980, Ben and Genevieve moved into Marble Rock. Following Ben's death on March 17, 1998, she continued to make her home in Marble Rock until entering the Nora Springs Care Center on March 1, 1999.

Genevieve will be remembered as one who enjoyed cooking, baking and canning things from the garden. She played cards, Bingo and other games with family and friends. She also enjoyed the family vacations at the lake.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, Royal Neighbors, Eastern Star, and Marble Rock Study Club.

Living family members include her daughter, Marge, and her husband, Don Swedberg, of Rudd; six sons, Gary of Rockford, Larry and his wife, Carol, of Floyd, Ron and his wife, Bonnie, of Marble Rock, Jim of Marble Rock, Denny and his wife, Nancy, of Rockford, and Danny of Cooksville, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Thelma Kornegor of Iowa City, Julia Witter of Rockford, Icena and her husband, Art Koenigsfeld, of Charles City, Gene Schriever of Palmdale, Calif; and a brother-in-law, Art Abbas, of Winnebago, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and four brothers, Ansel, George, Herman, and Ralston Kornegor.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Genevieve Schriever Memorial Fund in care of the family.
