Funeral Services
Held Tuesday for
Edward J. Casebolt

Funeral services for Edward Joseph Casebolt, 24, were held Tuesday, February 25, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Breen officiated at the Requiem Mass. Interment was in the Park Cemetery at Nora Springs with the Sheckler Funeral Home in charge.
Military rites were conducted by the American Legion, H.D.S. Post 449 of Nora Springs.

Pall bearers were Lloyd Ferrer, Russell Anderegg, Daryl Freudenberg, Richard Johnson, Jim Dutcher, all of Mason City and Jerrold Stiles, Nora Springs.

Eddie was killed in a head-on crash, Saturday afternoon, Feb. 22, south of Mason City on highway 65, just north of the Burchinel intersection. Also killed in the accident was Frederick E. Wix, 35, superintendent of the Sheffield-Chapin Com. School District. Gary Johnson, 23, Mason City, who was in the panel truck with Eddie, and three Wix children, riding in the car with their father, are patients in the Mercy Hospital. The pavement was wet and it was snowing at the time of the accident.

Edward Casebolt was born March 2, 1944 at the Mercy Hospital in Mason City. He lived at Dougherty prior to moving to Mason City, when he was five. He received his education in the Mason City schools. He was presently employed as a salesman for J & L Tire Co., in Mason City. He had served with the U. S. Army in Germany two years before his discharge August 12, 1968 at Fort Dix, N. J. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal.

Survivors are his mother and step-father, Ruben and Donna Moos, Nora Springs, his father R. W. Casebolt, Mason City; two sisters, Mrs. Jim (Carol) Fox, Berlin, Wisconsin, and Debra Moos, Nora Springs, two nephews, David and Bobby; and two nieces, Pat and Michelle, all of Berlin, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lorene, his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Boyle, Dougherty; and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Casebolt, Melrose, Iowa.
