Burnita “Nita” C. Winterink, 85, of Charles City, died Friday afternoon, September 10, 2010, at the 9th St. Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services for Nita Winterink will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. Pastor David Werges and Pastor Dennis Niezwaag will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and after 9:30 a.m. at the church on Tuesday.

Burnita Carley Vastine was born April 1, 1925, in Mason City, the daughter of Harley and Agnes (Bottin). She graduated from the Charles City High School and completed three years at the University of Nebraska. On June 15, 1946, she was united in marriage to Jack B. Winterink at the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. She was a member of the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, PEO Chapter JQ, City Improvement Association and American Association of University Women. Nita enjoyed ice skating, golf, shopping, raising her children and volunteering in the community in which she loved.

Living family members include her three children, Linda (Peter) Winterink-Kish of Blaine, Minn., Ellyn Dix of Clear Lake and Tom (Lorraine) Winterink of Charles City; and two grandchildren, Carley Dix and Madison Winterink.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
