Sharon K. Hoel, 53, of Urbandale, Iowa, formerly of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, March 7, 1995, at Fairview Southdale Hospital, Edina, Minn.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 10, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating.

Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery, Floyd, Iowa. The family suggests memorials be made to Camp Amanda the Panda or Opportunity Village.

Sharon was born Aug. 25, 1941, in rural Floyd County, the daughter of Clifford Day and Thelma Arlene (Mills) Newton. She attended Floyd Community School and graduated from the Charles City High School in 1959. She attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, Iowa.

On Nov. 25, 1960 she married Edwin Hoel at the United Methodist Church in Floyd. The couple lived in Boston, Mass., before moving back to Des Moines. After a move to Ann Arbor, Mich., they again returned to West Des Moines where they owned and operated the Ashworth Acres Tree Farm from 1977-1984.

They moved to Clear Lake in February 1989 and lived there until 1993, when they moved to Urbandale. She was employed as office manager for Air Management Systems from 1984-1993, when the business was sold. She became a licensed real estate agent in 1984 and was associated with Iowa Realty in Des Moines.

Sharon was a member of P.E.O. and TTT. Her talents included singing and she especially enjoyed being a member of the Joyous Voices group at Zion Lutheran Church. She was also involved in starting a women's retreat for Faith Lutheran Church in Clive, Iowa, and Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake. While living in Clear lake, she was very active in the Christian Women's Club. Sharon was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Clive.

She is survived by her mother, Thelma Newton, Charles City; her husband, Edwin Hoel, Urbandale; a son, Douglas Hoel, Springfield, Mo.; a daughter, Janan Jarosinski and her husband, Stephen, Roselle, Ill.; and a brother, Dean Newton and his wife, Pauline, England.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Organist Joyce TenHaken accompanied soloist Joel Laaveg.

Honorary pallbearers were Don Teepe, Kevin Johnson, Darcie Regan, Karla Byrd, Eric Newton, Thomas Newton, Sarah Hoel, Deborah Hoel, Jacquelyn Hoel, Mike Johnson.

Pallbearers were Dennis Johnson, Galen Roberts, Gary Mills, Wayne Mills, Clayton Johnson, Allen Teepe.
