NORA SPRINGS — Verna Harriett Gale, 88, formerly of Rudd, died Sunday (March 15, 1998) at the Nora Springs Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye St., Nora Springs, with the Rev. Richard Pippert of Rudd United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, rural Gladbrook.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel and will continue prior to services on Wednesday.

Verna Harriett Gale was born Sept. 25, 1909, in Tama County, daughter of Herman C. and Emma (Schnack) Budolfsen. She married Beryl D. Gale on May 1, 1937, at the Congregational Church in Eldora.

Verna grew up in Tama County and graduated from high school in Gladbrook. Her husband managed the Rockford Co-op for many years.

Verna enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She was a member of the Rudd United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three children, Carol Tipton and her husband, Bill, Marion; Gene Gale and his wife, Barbara, Reeds Spring, Mo.; and Marilyn Jorgensen and her husband, Harold, Rudd; five grandchildren, Stephanie Tipton Karr and her husband, Ed, Cedar Rapids, Kristy (Jorgensen) Chambers and her husband, David, Rockford; Wendy (Jorgensen) Fullerton and her husband, Steve, Rockford; Travas Gale, Springfield, Mo.; and Moriah Gale, Reeds Spring, Mo.; 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Emery Schnack, Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Beryl, on July 7, 1987; one brother, Wesley Budolfsen; and one sister, Minerva Dew.
