Rites Held For Arthur Jacobs, 82

Funeral services were held in the St. John Lutheran Church at Clarksville on Sunday afternoon for Arthur Jacobs, 82, of Charles City. He was a former rural Clarksville resident and was killed Wednesday in the tornado at Charles City [on May 15, 1968].

He and his son, Harold, owned and operated the elevator at Charles City. Mr. Jacobs reportedly was thrown against the large office safe and died en route to the hospital.

Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Garbes, of Clarksville; two sons, Forest and Harold, of Charles City; and one daughter, Mrs. Gladys Stike, of Nashua.

Reverend B. C. Wiebke of Waverly, retired Lutheran minister and visitation pastor at Charles City, had charge of the service. Burial was in Lynwood Cemetery at Clarksville.
