ROCKFORD, IOWA — Donna L. Biggs, 73, of Rockford, died on Monday morning, February 1, 2010 with her husband at her side.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, at Zion Lutheran Church, 805 E. Main Ave. in Rockford. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Fullerton Schumburg Funeral Home, 302 West Main in Rockford, and again one hour prior to the service at the church.

Thoughts, stories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.Fullertonfh.com . For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

ROCKFORD, IOWA - Donna L. Biggs, 73, of Rockford died on Monday morning, February 1, 2010, with her husband at her side.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2010, at the Zion Lutheran Church, 805 E. Main Ave. in Rockford, with Pastor Patricia Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Fullerton Schumburg Funeral Home, 302 W. Main in Rockford, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Thoughts, stories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.Fullertonfh.com .

Donna was born on July 11, 1936, in Mason City, the daughter of William and Velma (Anderson) Schutz. She grew up in Mason City and attended the Mason City schools. She was united in marriage to Glenn Biggs on September 12, 1953, in Charles City. The couple made their home in Mason City. They moved to Rockford in 1959.

Donna worked at Park Hospital in Mason City as a nurse's aide but became a housewife once she and Glenn started their family. She also cleaned at the library, church and the school, where she also worked in the cafeteria.

In her later years Donna helped at the family-owned service station. One of her favorite tasks was the 30-year renovation of their family home.

Donna had many hobbies including sewing, crocheting, watching NASCAR races and baking birthday cakes for her grandchildren. She also accumulated a large Currier & Ives collection.

Donna enjoyed the many road trips she made with Glenn, especially their trip to Alaska. She loved spending time with family and especially loved following the many events of her grandchildren and clipping their accomplishments out of the newspaper. Donna was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 56 years, Glenn, of Rockford; children, Glennys (Bruce) Engleman of Mason City and Markley (Kathy) Biggs, of Rockford; grandchildren, Brianne (Michael) Ewing, Bobbi Engleman, Trevor Biggs, Kacie Biggs and Jessica Biggs; sister, Evelyn Heagel; and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Arlene Dehnert; and brother, Earl Schutz.
