CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Will Elsworth Stewart, 77, died Friday at his home, following a short illness; he had been a resident of Charles City 36 years. Before retiring he was employed at the George P. Smith Co., factory for 24 years.

His only son, Donald, who is in the U. S. army in Texas, knowing of his father's illness was on his way home Friday on furlough, unaware of his death.

He was born in Ontario, Canada, Aug. 12, 1866, a son of Jerry and Winifred (Scarlett) Stewart. He came to Charles City in February, 1908, and on May 6, 1908, married Elizabeth Hamilton, who preceded him in death Dec. 25, 1936. He was a member of First Methodist church,

He also leaves one brother in London, Ont., and one sister, in North Dakota.

The body is at Hauser Funeral Home.
