Rites Monday for First '55 Crash Victim

CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Funeral services for Gerald Tynan, 24, auto mechanic who was killed New Year's day near Clarksville were held Monday at the Hauser Funeral Home.

Tynan was accompanied by his wife Lila, 18, Mrs. Russell Leslie, 22, June Herman, 28, and William Herman, 40, all of Charles City.

The car plunged off a dead end road two and one-half miles east of Clarksville. All are in the Cedar Valley Hospital and Mrs. Tynan was still unconscious Monday. They were coming home from a dance at Clarksville.

Tynan is survived by two children. Jerry, 4, and Jeanie, 3; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Tynan; sisters, Mrs. Rosie Washburn, Chicago and Mrs. Mary Sprague, Beverly and Charles City. Juanita Tynan of Charles City.

This entire area was shocked over the weekend by the tragic highway traffic deaths of two
well-known young men, [including]:

Gerald (Jimmy) Tynan, 24, of Charles City, husband of the former Lila Crooks of Ionia, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loyal Crooks.

Mrs. Tynan who still is gravely ill at the Charles City hospital. Funeral services for Tynan were held Monday at Charles City.
