PIONEER FLOYD RESIDENT DIES

Mrs. Ella Blake Once Taught Rural Schools

MARBLE ROCK, IOWA - Mrs. Ella Blake, 83, died at her home in Marble Rock of a heart attack early Wednesday.

Ella Comstock was born December 26, 1860 to David and Mary Morgan Comstock in Marble Rock.

She lived in Floyd county all her life, teaching in the Floyd county schools before her marriage to James Ellis Blake March 16, 1884. Eight children were born to this union, one, Lila, dying in infancy. Her husband died in 1938.

Surviving are 7 children: Mrs. Nellie Jones of Rockford, Clifford A. Blake of Minneapolis, Mrs. Hazel Skalsky and Mrs. Ada Gehlhaus of Los Angeles, Cal., Jay Blake of Charles City, Ray Blake of Centerville, S. Dak., and Mrs. Carl Cunningham of Rockford. There are 14 grandchildren, 7-being grandsons, all of whom are in military service, one. Dean Blake, of the naval air service losing his life in action. She also leaves 7 great grandchildren.

She was a member of the Christian church for 42 years, also a member of the Woman's Relief Corps.
