Russell Martel Stromsodt, 82, of Austin, Mower county, Minnesota, died September 21, 2002, at Prairie Manor in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota.

He was born December 9, 1919, in Charles City, Floyd County, Iowa, to Ingvald N. and Ida M. (Iverson) Stromsodt. He joined the Army in October 1941, serving during World War II. He was discharged in October 1945 as a Private First Class. Employed by Geo. A. Hormel & Company for 36 years, he retired on Oct. 25, 1975. He lived at the Cedars of Austin until June 28, 2002, when he moved to Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Blooming Prairie. He belonged to the Church of Christ, VFW, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

Service: 11 a.m. graveside service, Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at Grandview Cemetery with the Rev. David DeFor officiating. Military rites will be by American Legion Post 91.
