CHARLES CITY, IOWA - John E. Merfeld, 74, of Charles City, died on Friday, October 11, 1991, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Edward Petty officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.

John Merfeld was born on October. 24, 1916, at Dougherty, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday with a St. Theresa's Circle rosary at 3 p.m. Sunday and a parish Scripture wake service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt.

Survivors include his wife, Winifred "Winnie" of Charles City; seven daughters, Joann Brantley of Carlisle; Janice Merfeld, Sioux City; Jolene Bohn, Waterville, Minn.; Judy Wollner, Mason City; Jill Walden, Jonesboro, Ga.; Janella Gillette, Davenport, and Jennifer Hubert, Charles City; two sons, John of Columbus, Wis., and Joseph, Lacona; one sister, Bertha Tienan of Mason City; and three brothers, Albert, Belmond, Leo, Sacramento, Calif.; and Father Vince, Redlands, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (Noss) Merfeld, four sisters and two brothers.
