CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Madeline B. Jacobs, 90, of Charles City died Sunday (Nov. 29, 2009) at the Ninth Street Chautauqua Guest Home.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City with the Rev. Dennis Niezwaag officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St. in Charles City.

For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Madeline B. Jacobs, 90, of Charles City, died Sunday, November 29, 2009 at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home.

A funeral service will be held at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Niezwaag officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Charles City. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 2 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt Street, in Charles City. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Madeline was born on March 29, 1919 in rural Nashua, Iowa, the daughter of L. Howard and Iva (Coffman) Tefft. She was raised in Nashua and graduated from Nashua High School in 1936. She and her family moved to Chicago in 1943 where she lived for two years. Madeline was united in marriage to Harold W. Jacobs on February 11, 1945 in the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their home in Charles City. Harold passed away in 1990.

Madeline was an active member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Church Circle and had also sung in the church choir. She also was a volunteer for Hospice and Meals on Wheels, and also played the piano at the Chautauqua Guest Homes for many years. She was an avid pianist and reader. She also enjoyed painting and bird watching.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, William (Kathy) Jacobs of Charles City, Allen (Peggy) Jacobs of Jefferson and Marilyn Jacobs (Ed Brown) of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Brad (Dina) Boehmer, Lee Jacobs, Adam Jacobs, Grant (Cassie) Jacobs, Paul (Ashley) Jacobs, Nathaniel Jacobs, and Elizabeth Jacobs; great grandchildren, Corey Boehmer, Nicolette Boehmer, Megan Boehmer, Dana and Josephine; and brother, William (Lucille) Tefft of Newton, NJ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; and sister-in-law, Rose Tefft.
