CHARLES CITY, IOWA -- Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home for William George Immel, 78, who died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday at Oakdale, after an illness of two and a half months. The Rev. Paul Heath, pastor of the First Mehodist Church, will officiate and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Mr. Immel, a lifelong resident of this community, was born on February 24, 1879. He was married to Laurel Stevens. Until his retirement, he was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad.

He is survived by three sons, Wilbur and Donald Immel, both of Charles City; and Harold Immel of Waterloo; three daughters, Mrs. Walter Birkholz and Mrs. Lewis Ingersoll, both of Charles City, and Mrs. Roy Usher, Nashua; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Phillips of Charles City, and Mrs. Fred Carter, Waterloo.

Preceding him in death was his wife, who died 30 years ago.
