CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Sigvald Thorson, 84, of 306 Fifth Ave., Charles City, a former Orchard area farmer, died Sunday (June 18, 1989) at the Ninth Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City, of natural causes.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S Main, Charles City, with the Rev. William Griffee of the Orchard United Church, of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, Charles City.

Visitation is after 10:30 a.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born Sept. 9, 1904, in Inwood, in Lyon County, a son of Thor and Ingeborg (Nelson) Thorson. He received his education in country schools near his home.

On March 10, 1946, he married Margaret E. Hagg Ransom in Lyle, Minn.

He was a member of the Orchard United Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife Margarte, Charles City; two stepdaughters, Dixie Ann Steele, Minneapolis, Minn., and Kathleen Jensen, Charles City; two sisters, Mae Mullinix, Canton, S. D., and Tulda Solem, Veresford, S. D.; and one brother, "Carl" Oscar of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and four brothers.
