CATHERINE ROTTINGHAUS

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Mrs.Catherine G. Rottinghaus, 92, 204 Second Ave., died Friday (Aug. 18, 1989) at Floyd County Memorial Hosptial of natural causes.

Funeral serices will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City, with the Rev. Edward Petty officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Charles City.

Mrs. Rottinghaus was born Jan. 2, 1897, in Seneca, Kan., a daughter of Anton and Mary (Rosina) Gudenkauf. She received her education in St. Peter and St. Paul schools in Seneca.

On Oct. 10, 1915, she was married to Joseph Rottinghaus at St. Peter and St. Paul Church in Seneca. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and St. Jude Circle of the church.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday at the Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt, Charles City. St. Jude Circle will recite the rosary at 3 p.m., a Sisters scripture service will be held at 4:30 p.m. and parish scripture service, at 7:30 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.

Survivors include five daughters; Mrs John (Winifred) Merfeld, Charles City, Mrs Robert (Mary Catherine) Clark, Decatur, Ill., Sister Mary Michael (Henrietta), Algona, Sister Mary Anthony (Francis), South St. Paul, Minn., and Sister Mary Rosanne (Rose Marie), Osage; four sons, Anthony "Bud", rural Ionia, Raymond, of Mason City, Joseph, of Clear Lake, and James of Des Moines; two sisters, Mary Kinsey, Seneca Kan., and Helen Grolimes, Valley Falls, Kan., two brothers, Joseph Gudenkauf and Vincent Gudenkauf, both of Seneca, Kan., and 36 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1967, one son, Raphael, two brothers and one sister.
