CARTERSVILLE, GEORGIA - Ms. Elaine Frances O'Rourke departed this life on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at her residence in Cartersville, after a lengthy illness.

Born on October 10, 1943, in Rockford, Iowa, she was the only child of the late William O'Rourke and the late Lucille Tourtellott O'Rourke.

She is survived by her only son, Matt O'Rourke, and many loving friends. She received her formal education in the states of Iowa, Minnesota, Georgia and Tennessee. Elaine began teaching in the Bartow County School system in 1974 and retired in 2006 after teaching at Cloverleaf Elementary and White Elementary.

In addition to being a devoted teacher Elaine enjoyed traveling, watching the Atlanta Hawks play basketball and was an avid reader.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rome, Ga., on Monday, Oct. 26, at 10:30 a.m.
