CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 P.M. at the Grossmann-Hage Funeral Home for August Ludwig Leek, 83. A retired mail carrier, he died at his home Saturday night, following a heart attack. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with military rites by the VFW and American Legion.

He came to Charles City at the age of five, with his family, from Germany. He was born September 17, 1877, in Ravenstein, Germany, the son of Wilhelm and Frederica Leek.

October 23, 1901, he was married to Leeta Marcom in the Lutheran Church in Charles City.

He was an employee of the Steven-Fischer Co. and the George P. Smith Co. here 20 years and was a mail carrier from the local post office 30 years. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War.

He is survived by two sons, Russell G. Leek, Spokane, Washington, and William L. Leek, Kent, Ohio; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Vinnie White, who kept home for him following the death of his wife.
