NORA SPRINGS, IOWA -- Leora E. Gildner, 82, of 202 S. Boulder, Nora Springs, died Wednesday (June 26, 1996) at the Nora Springs Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Nora Springs United Methodist Church, 202 N. Hawkeye, with the Rev. Richard Pippert officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Nora Springs. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, and will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Leora E. Gildner was born May 30, 1914, in Nora Springs, daughter of Andrew J. and Ethel (Treloar) Burlingham. She married Paul J. Gildner on Oct. 9, 1935, in Nora Springs. Leora graduated from Nora Springs High School in 1931 and also graduated from Hamilton Business College, Mason City. She helped her husband with their family business until their retirement. She enjoyed the outdoors and birds and loved playing bridge, traveling, reading and needlework. She was a member of Dealt-A-Deck Bridge Club which began in 1929 and the Contract Bridge Club.

She was active in RSVP and enjoyed volunteering at the library and at Lime Creek Nature Center. She was also a member of the Nora Springs United Methodist Church, the Nora Springs Garden Club, the North Iowa Nature Club, and the Rebecca Circle. Leora was really loved by her grandchildren and will be sadly missed by her family.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Marshall, and her husband Bill, of Nora Springs; one son, Gary Gildner, of Irvine, Calif.; three grandchildren, Mark Marshall and his wife Angee, of Stanhope; Becky Sberal and her husband Mike, of Nora Springs, and Mindy Marshall, of Mason City; three great-grandchildren, Lauren Maertens, Nora Springs, and Jordan and Mason Marshall, both of Stanhope; one brother, Tom Burlingham, and his wife Ethel, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1980; and two sisters, Shirley Schuver and Fern Burlingham.
