ROCKFORD, IOWA - Floyd W. Dohrmann, 89, of 23667 210th St., Rockford, died Friday (July 10, 2009) at Mercy Medical Center, North Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, at Zion Lutheran Church, 805 East Main, Rockford. Officiating will be Robert Orr. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. today at Fullerton Schumburg Funeral Home, 302 West Main, Rockford.

Floyd William was born on September 16, 1919, one of three children to Arnold and Nora (Arends) Dohrmann at West Concord, Minn. He attended elementary school at West Concord and then finished his schooling at Alexander. As a youngster, he lived on many farms with his family. Having the dirt beneath his fingernails, he bought their first farm near Aredale in 1950, and then they purchased their farm near Rockford, where he and his wife resided for the past 44 years.

On Feb. 7, 1951, he was united in marriage to Faye Christopherson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union were born two daughters, Connie and Carol. His first years of farming were done with horses. They visited with neighbors and played cards for entertainment. Floyd hunted rabbits and pheasants and for many years would join a bunch of buddies for a fishing trip to Canada. For many years, he milked cows and tended his livestock. Floyd was a quiet, hard-working, patient man who wanted to get things done. Most of all, he was a family man and loved to be around his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed reading books, his favorite being Westerns. He attended the Aredale Gospel Hall and was a member of Farm Bureau.

Those thankful in sharing Floyd's life include his wife, Faye, of 58 years; two daughters, Connie and her husband Steve Jensen, Osage, Carol and her husband Dennis Nauman, Rudd; and four grandchildren, Brad (Jessica) Jensen, Stacy (Dan) Skinner, Scott and Brent Nauman.

His parents, one sister Ruth Hadwiger, and an infant brother, preceded him in death.
