CHARLES AUGUST BIRKHOLZ

CHARLES CITY, IOWA -- Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. John Lutheran Church for Charles August Birkholz, 86. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with Grossmann-Hage Funeral Home in charge.

He died Sunday at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital. He was a harness maker here for 50 years and retired in 1964. He was a former councilman from the First Ward.

Surviving are his wife, Christina; a son, Raymond, Des Moines; a daughter, Miss Gertrude Birkholz, Reno, Nevada; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be sent to St. John Lutheran Church building fund.
