CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Funeral services for Ethel A. Ritter, 96, will be held at 1:30 p.m.

Monday, March 18, at Reid's Funeral Chapel in Marble Rock with Pastor Marjorie Bradshaw of the Marble Rock United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Westside Cemetery in Marble Rock.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Reid's Funeral Chapel in Marble Rock and will continue one hour before services Monday.

Ethel Alma Wagner was born July 19, 1905, in Alexandria, Minn., a daughter of Joseph and Alma (Reynolds) Wagner, and died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Salisbury Baptist Home in Charles City on the 18th anniversary of her husband's death.

At an early age, she and her family moved to rural Butler County near Dumont, where she received her education in the country school nearby. As a young lady, she was employed as a housekeeper and caregiver to newly born babies.

On April 18, 1924, she was united in marriage to Leo Clare Ritter and to this union was born 11 children. They made their home in the Marble Rock area.

During World War II, she was employed by the Oliver Tractor Works. They later moved to Rockford. Following her husband's death, she moved to St. Peter, Minn., with her son, Kenneth, and later returned to Charles City in 1995. She entered Salisbury Baptist Home in December 1999.

Ethel and Leo enjoyed fishing and going junking together. The highlight of their marriage was when they received a letter from President Ronald Reagan on their 60th wedding anniversary.

Living family members include six daughters, Darlene and Don Hadden of Castana, Iowa, Arlene and Rick Schwartz of Council Bluffs, Dorothy Webb of Hamilton, Ind., Fran Bowling of Sanford, N.C., Donna Connerley of Charles City, Connie and Charles Gutch of Eddyville, Iowa; three brothers, Ronald and Bethel Ritter of Charles City, Vern and Dorothy Dreyustern of Tucson, Ariz., and Robert and Lana Stapella of Waterloo; and many grandchildren and great-grand-
children.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Clair Ritter in 1955 and Kenneth Ritter in 1998; her parents; six sisters, Ollie Parker, Grace Wagner, Heddy Morphew, Cordelia Swanson, Margaret Webb, Verita

Wagner; and two brothers, Clarence Wagner and Kenneth Wagner.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Ethel A. Ritter Memorial Fund in care of the family.
