RUDD, IOWA - Arlene K. Rathjen-Blunt, 83, of 615 Depot St., died on Friday, May 16, 1997, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Rudd United Methodist Church, 611 Sixth St. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church on Tuesday. Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, is in charge of arrangements.

Arlene K. Blunt was born April 3, 1914, in Rockford, the daughter of Warren and Vivian (Kennedy) Mathers. She married Lynn "Skinny" Rathjen in 1939, and he preceded here in death in 1960. She then married George Blunt in 1966, and he preceded her in death in 1978.

Arlene grew up in the Rudd and Rockford area and graduated from Rudd High School. She was a cook for many years at the Rudd schools. In 1966, she moved to California, until 1978, when she returned to Rudd. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and cooking, and she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include one son, Gary Rathjen and his wife, Sandra, of Sulphur Springs, Ark.; one granddaughter, Heather Rathjen of Sulphur Springs, Ark.; one sister, Beverly O'Connell of Tulsa, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two sisters, and one brother.
