STANLEY MERLE ATTLESON

ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA - The funeral for Stanley Merle Attleson will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at Zumbro Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Gary Benson and Rev. Carol A. Solovitz officiating. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn.

Mr. Attleson, 80, of Rochester, a retired Assistant Vice President of First Security Bank and Trust Company of Charles City, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital of complications from multiple myeloma cancer.

Born Oct. 15, 1924, in Mt. Sterling, Wis. to Attley and Millie (Eiberg) Attleson, Mr. Attleson graduated from High School in New Hampton. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served as Yeoman Second Class. Following military service, he attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. He began his banking career in Ionia and later moved to Charles City, where he was employed at First Security Bank. He married Irene Boomgarden in Forest City on Jan. 5, 1958. The couple made their home in Charles City, and moved to Rochester upon retirement.

Mr. Attleson was active in church choir, deacons and bible study in communities he lived in. He enjoyed biking, hiking, swimming and camping with his family. He delivered Meals on Wheels for 17 years in Rochester and gave over 5 gallons of blood to the Red Cross. He also served faithfully in several offices of The Gideons International for over 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Tami (Dave) Thompson of Edina, Minn., a son, Peter (Jill) Attleson of Brooklyn Park, Minn., four grandchildren, three sisters, Mavis (Fritz) Lang of New Hampton, Hazel (Don) Hereid of New Hampton and Thelma (Roger) Johnson of New Hampton. Two brothers preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 4 - 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mahn Family Funeral Horne - Rochester Chapel - and at the church an hour before the service.
