Lloyal Melvin Green

RUDD, IOWA - Lloyal Melvin Green, 72, of 210 Chickasaw Ave., died Monday (March 24, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Rudd United Methodist Church, 611 Sixth St., with the Rev. Deborah Stowers officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Lloyal M. Green was born March 19, 1925, in Charles City, son of Clifford and Belva (Monroe) Green. Lloyal grew up in Charles City and attended Charles City High School.

He married Mabel E. Rolfes on Nov. 21, 1942, in Rudd. He owned and operated the Green Service Station in Rudd for 45 years. Lloyal was an avid fisherman. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them participate in sports. In 1988, he received the "Keeper of the Town" Award.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel Green of Rudd; two sons, Terry Green and his wife, Jerry, Mason City, and Gary Green, Rudd; two daughters, Connie Achenbach and her husband, Andy, Montezuma, Ohio, and Debra Engels and her husband, Robert, Rockford; 13 grandchildren, Teri Chapman and her husband, Charles, San Bernadino, Calif.; Mark Achenbach and his wife, Karen, Rockford; Tracy Green, Mason City; Trevor Green, Kennar, La.; Tricia Green, Mason City; Robert Green and his wife, Laurie, Rudd; Jennifer Green, Charles City; Julie Green, Marble Rock; Jacqueline Bushbaum and her husband, Jamie, Marble Rock; and Angie, Erin, Andrea and Daniel Engels, all of Rockford; 10 great-grandchildren; his mother, Belva Green, Charles City; one brother, Gayle Green, Charles City; three sisters, Bonnie Henry, Wichita, Kan.; Dawn Volbrecht, and her husband, Chuck, of Wichita, Kan., and Dixie Meek of Gilbert; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Green.
