NORA SPRINGS, IOWA — Viola D. Hain, 83, of Nora Springs, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at Nora Springs Care Center, Nora Springs.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, with Pastor Glen Bandel officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral chapel.
Viola D. Hain was born Aug. 22, 1921, at Mason City, daughter of David and Burdetta (Harris) Sable. Viola attended Mason City schools.
She was united in marriage to Wilbur C. Hain on Jan. 18, 1947, at Rockford. She farmed with her husband, Wilbur, for many years south of Nora Springs. She was a member of Nora Springs Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school for several years.
She is survived by a daughter, Martha (Doug) Straube of Rudd; a son, Doug (Jo) Hain of Nora Springs; eight grandchildren: Dustin Straube and his fiancee, Sarah Schmitt, Derek Straube, Heidi Hain, Kelly Hain, Tony Hain, Maggie Hain, Jesse Hain and Linsey (T.J.) Watson; two great-grandchildren: Tamara and Xavier Watson; a sister, Helen Moore of Mason City; a sister-in-law, Mary Sable of Mason City, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbur; stepfather, Jim Barcaly; brother, Walter Sable, and two infant grandsons, Ryan and Tim Straube.
Memorials may be given to the Viola D. Hain memorial fund.
