CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Marjorie J. Finger, 88, of Charles City, formerly of Nashua, passed away Saturday (Jan. 14, 2006) at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City with Pastors Dennis Niezwagg and David Werges officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City.

Casketbearers will be Larry Stock, Darwin Stock, Darel Jurgens, Richard Pagel, Joe Pagel and Duane Pagel.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Hugeback-Chenoweth Funeral Home, 319 Main Street, in Nashua, and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Memorials may be directed to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 S. Main Street, Charles City, IA 50616.

Marjorie Jane Finger was born on Oct. 23, 1917, in Butler County, the daughter of George and Jennie (Weichers) Jurgens. She attended rural Butler County schools near Clarksville.

She was united in marriage to Karl Finger on Dec. 27, 1936, in Clarksville. To this union two sons were born.

They lived in Janesville and Waterloo before moving to Floyd County where they farmed and were in the poultry business for more than 25 years. They retired and moved to Nashua.

Marjorie is a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dorcas Circle, and served as kitchen chairman for several years. She was also a member of Riverton Homemakers and helped with 4-H Fair food stand. Marjorie enjoyed playing cards and going on fishing trips. She loved caring for and being with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Gary (Carol) Finger, of Charles City; one daughter-in-law, Elaine Finger, of Iowa City; six grandchildren: Leslie Finger, Greg Finger, Lesa Finger, Jeffrey Finger, LeAnn Zimmer and Jody Davis; also eight great-grandchildren.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Karl, on May 31, 1992; one son, Alton (Stretch) Finger; her parents; two brothers: Joe and Jerry Jurgens; four sisters: twins, Corrine and Colleen Jurgens, Christina Stock, and Anna Pagel; and a great-granddaughter, Danielle Lee Escalante.
