ROCKFORD, IOWA — Mabel E. Green, 80, of Rockford, died Tuesday (Dec. 28, 2004) at her home in Rockford.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Rudd United Methodist Church, 611 Sixth St. in Rudd, with the Rev. Jim Turner and Chaplain William Peake officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Rudd.

Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye in Nora Springs.

Mabel Elizabeth (Rolfes) Green was born on Oct. 8, 1924, in the Niles Township, north of Charles City, the daughter of William Rolfes and Christena "Tena" (LaCoste) Rolfes.

She received her education in the Rudd school system. After completing her schooling, she worked as a chicken processor for Hoover Hatchery.

She was united in marriage Lloyal Green on Nov. 21 1942 in Rudd.

She enjoyed playing cards and games with her family, playing bridge and 500 with her friends, solving crossword puzzles and cryptograms, especially crocheting many doilies and treasures for her family and friends that will be treasured for years to come.

She was a member of the Rudd United Methodist Church in Rudd.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Terry Green and his wife, Jerry, of Mason City, Gary Green, of Rudd, Connie Achenbach and her husband, Andy, of Newton, Kan., and Debra Engels and her husband, Robert, of Rockford; 13 grandchildren, Teri Chapman and her husband, Charles, Mark Achenbach and his wife, Karen, Tracy Green, Trevor Green, Tricia Green and Dennis, Bob Green and his wife, Laurie, Jennifer Green, Julie Wharton and her husband, Rick, Jacque Bushbaum and her husband, Jamie, Angie Engels, Erin Lyman and her husband, Russ, Andrea Hanig and her husband, Nick, and Daniel Engels and his fiancee, Jackie Shultz; and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her three sisters-in-law, Bonnie Henry, Dawn Vol-brecht and her husband Chuck, and Dixie Meek; and brother-in-law, Gayle Green.

Mabel is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyal Green; parents, William and Tena Rolfes; great-grandson Derick Wharton; and two sisters, Inez Field and Irene Moore.
