CLEAR LAKE, IOWA — Lyle L. Carrott, 93, of 1400 Seventh Ave. N., Clear Lake, died Friday (Dec. 10, 2004) at the Heritage Care Center, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m.Wednesday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Thomas Healey, Hospice of North Iowa chaplain, officiating. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Lyle L. Carrott Memorial Fund or Hospice of North Iowa.

Lyle was born May 27, 1911, on the Carrott farm in rural Rockford in Cerro Gordo County, the son of Franklin James and Della Maude (Cheney) Carrott. He received his education in rural Cerro Gordo and graduated from Rockford High School in 1930.

On January 21, 1933, he was united in marriage to Irene Kock at the Methodist parsonage in Mason City. Together they farmed for 30 years before leaving the farm and going into business as Geneva Livestock Sales in Geneva, Minn., in livestock sales for 27 years. They moved to Clear Lake in May of 1989

Lyle and Irene enjoyed each other's company and spent much of their retirement fishing in the northern lakes of Minnesota and traveling the southern states in the winter. He enjoyed outdoor activities, fishing, hunting, woodworking and traveling.

He was a former member of Geneva United Methodist Church, Rockford Masonic Lodge and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, Mason City.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Irene, of 71 years of marriage; two sons, Larry Carrott and his wife Miora, of Peculiar, Mo., and Robert Carrott and his wife, Kay, of Clear Lake; six grandchildren, David Carrott and his wife, Vicky, of St. Regis, Mont., Julie Wolcott and her husband, Dana, of Lake Stevens, Wash., Eric Carrott, of Belton, Mo., Rodney Carrott and his wife, Kimberly, of Ankeny, Brenda Molencamp and her husband, Craig, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Brian Carrott and his wife, Susan, of Mason City; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Thelma Pecht; an infant son, Thomas; and daughter-in-law, Dixie. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, (641) 357-2193.
