CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Evelyn M. Roberts, 93, of the Ninth St. Chautauqua Guest Home and formerly of Nevada, died early Wednesday morning (Oct. 20, 2004) at the Ninth St. Chautauqua Guest Home.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, 1036 Seventh St. in Nevada, with Pastor Steve Williams officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

Cremation has taken place at Cremation Services of North Iowa in Mason City.

Evelyn Mae (Trisler) Roberts was born Sept. 6, 1911, in Weldon, the daughter of William Nelson and Florence A. (Ross) Trisler.

Evelyn graduated from Weldon High School, class of 1928. She furthered her education attending and graduating from Simpson College in 1932, and later completed graduate work at Iowa State University in Ames, and the University of Northern Iowa, in Cedar Falls.

On April 15, 1933, Evelyn was united in marriage to Duane Franklin Roberts in Leon.

Evelyn was employed as a secondary school teacher in social studies with the Nevada Public Schools for 31 years, retiring in 1976.

She was involved in serving on many boards in many capacities for the First United Methodist Church.

Evelyn was a member of PEO, WaTanYe Club, a 50-year member of the Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma and Sorosis.

She also served as a volunteer for many years at the long-term care facility at the Story County Hospital. Her involvement included taking part in the weekly reading program, hostess of the juice cart and calling bingo.

Grateful for having had the privilege of sharing in her life are her daughter, Jo Ann (Dick) Herbrechtsmeyer of Charles City; three grand-children, Beth (Bill) Owens of Vinton; Carrie (Geoff) Greenwood of Johnston; and Jon (Kristi) Herbrechtsmeyer of Lino Lakes, Minn.; six great-grandchildren, Meghan and Luke Owens; Mollie and John Greenwood and Abbie and Connor Herbrechtsmeyer; and her nephew, Thomas Trisler.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Franklin Roberts in 1946; parents, Will and Florence Trisler; and a brother, Nelson Trisler.
