RUDD, IOWA — Scott D. Woodruff, 45, of 620 Decker St. in Rudd, died on Tuesday, February 10, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Rockford, with Father Linus Rasing officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Rockford, with a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. The family suggests memorials to the Scott D. Woodruff Memorial Fund.

Scott was born Dec. 19, 1958, in Charles City, the son of Harlan D. and Dorla (Toepher) Woodruff. He was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at the age of eight. While attending Nashua High School, Scott was in the honor band, received the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award for trombone, and was Homecoming King. He graduated from Nashua High School in 1977.

Scott married Linda Rasing on Sept. 25, 1982, in Ionia. They lived in Charles City and moved to Rudd in 1987. He attended North Iowa Area Community College, where he obtained his A.A. degree in May 1989. In 1986, he had a kidney transplant, with his brother Steve as the donor.

He worked for IMI Cornelius as a draftsman/designer for over 14 years. He also did TV and VCR repair out of his home in the early 1990s. Scott enjoyed motorcycling, playing pool, gardening, the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, golfing, going to Town Mart to have coffee and visit with friends, and attending his daughters’ school events.

Scott was on the Rudd City Council for two terms and was in his second term as mayor. He was also in his second term on the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock School Board, serving as vice president. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. He previously participated in the Rudd Lions Club and the Rudd Volunteer Fire Department.

Scott will be sadly missed by his wife, Linda Woodruff, Rudd; and their three children, Kourtney, of Iowa City and Samantha and Skylar, both at home; his mother, Dorla Woodruff, of Nashua; his brother, Steve Woodruff and his wife, Amy, of Ruthven; and his sister, Marcia Jensen and her husband, Joel, of Denver, Iowa; and his many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

His father preceded him in death.
