NORA SPRINGS, IOWA — Barak Thomas Fingalsen was born Feb. 22, 2003, in Mason City. The six-week-old son of Bryan and Jennifer (Pippert) Fingalsen, passed away at the family farm. He left the loving arms of his parents and was taken into the arms of Jesus on Monday (April 7, 2003). Barak is a Biblical name meaning “brave warrior.”

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hanford Community Church, Rural Route 3, Mason City, with the Rev. Mark Culham officiating. Interment will be in Park Cemetery in Nora Springs.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City.

He is survived by his parents, Bryan and Jennifer Fingalsen, of Nora Springs; maternal grandparents, Harold and Sandy Pippert, of Mason City; paternal grandfather, Thomas Fingalsen, of Mason City; great-grandfather, Elmer Fingalsen, of Litchfield, Minn.; great-grandmother, Joyce Tourtellott, of Mason City; aunts and uncles, Mark and Annette VanLent, Mark and Heather Mathre, Jason and Angie Pippert, Dan and Monica Robeson, Steve and Dawn Havey and many cousins. Special friends include the family dog, Sydney; Kim Sallee, Judy Beenken, Dean and Jackie Koch, Steve and Becky Kirchgatter.
