Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday.

Wilbur William Henry was born Jan. 23, 1908, at Carville, the son of William and Alice (Campbell) Henry. At an early age he moved to Floyd where he received his education at the Floyd school.

On June 24, 1938, he was united in marriage to Laura Mannetter at Osage. They farmed near Charles City all their lives, remained on the farm after retirement and then moved together to the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in March of 2002.

Bill was a man from simpler times, believing in hard work and "elbow grease", working from sun up 'til sun down and enjoying a good home cooked meal at the end of the day before settling into his chair to read.

Among his special interests were planting a garden with his beloved companion, Laura, that would be large enough to share with relatives, friends, and neighbors, listening to the markets on the radio, reading, going to the elevator for both business and pleasure which included visiting with fellow farmers, baking bread and rolls, and spending time with David and family on their Sunday afternoon visits to the farm whether it was to cut down a tree that needed tending to or helping in the garden.

Living family members include his wife, Laura, of Charles City; a son, Bruce Henry, of Denver, Colo.; a grandson, David (Denise) Bledsoe, of Charles City; and a great-granddaughter, Katelyn Bledsoe.

His parents; a daughter, Marlys Bledsoe; a sister, Edith Gauger; and a brother, Clarence Henry, preceded him in death.
