WATERLOO, IOWA - Betty Elliott Smith of Affinity Assisted Living, 829 E. Ridgeway, died there Saturday, Nov. 8, of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 17, 1903, in Chicago, daughter of James and Rhoda Thompson Elliott. She married Harry Smith July 25, 1926, in Elkhart, Ind. He died April 7, 1993.

Mrs. Smith was a legal secretary for Larson & Carr in Charles City for 17 years, retiring in 1983.

Survivors include one brother, James Elliott of Oelwein; one nephew, Richard Elliott of Denver; three nieces, Jane Groth of Davenport, Christine Sheffield of Los Osos, Calif., and Deborah Ehlers of Salem, Ore.; and close friend Beulah LaPole of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother Lloyd Elliott, and two sisters Maude LaPole and Laura Leistikow.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball St. with entombment in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
